Université Grenoble Alpes, whose registered office is located at 621 avenue centrale, 38400 Saint-Martin-d’Hères, acting as the data controller, is committed to ensuring that personal data processing carried out on the websites and intranets it hosts complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés).

1. The data we collect

When using the websites and intranet of Université Grenoble Alpes, you may provide us with information, some of which may identify you:

We collect only the information strictly necessary to process your request.

Cookies

We use various cookies to measure audience engagement and integrate services that improve site interactivity.

• Essential cookies: these cookies are essential to ensure the proper functioning of the site: Tarteaucitron is used to store your consent choices, which are kept for 6 months.
• Audience measurement cookies: we use the Matomo audience measurement tool, a French tool that collects and analyzes data related to your visit to our site for the purpose of continuously improving the information provided. Matomo allows harvested data to be hosted locally on a university server. Matomo does not transmit personal data to third parties. It installs cookies, which are text files placed on your computer that collect personal data solely to provide website traffic statistics (number of page views, number of visits, visitor activity on the site, and frequency of return).

Connection data: When you browse the websites and intranet of Université Grenoble Alpes, we collect personal information about you, including the date and time of connection and/or browsing, browser type, browser language, and your IP address (retained for 36 months).

• _pk_id: used to store your unique visitor ID (if Matomo audience measurement is active), kept for 13 months
• _pk_ses: used for temporary storage of your visit data (if Matomo audience measurement is active), kept for 30 minutes

You can choose to prevent Matomo from placing cookies before using this site. You can also partially or completely disable the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser.
 
Third-party cookies: these are cookies used by third parties, such as social networks and audio-video platforms. You can refuse these cookies when visiting our websites.

2. How do we use the data we collect?

We use the data we collect in order to:

• Respond to your requests on the legal basis of legitimate interest.
• Retaining your connection data to comply with a legal obligation
• Analyze your browsing on our websites using Matomo on the legal basis of consent
• Provide social media access features based on the legal basis of consent

3. Who are the recipients of the data we collect?

• The recipients of your data are the communications and IT departments, as well as authorized personnel of Université Grenoble Alpes.  
• Our subcontractor, Tarte au Citron, has access to cookie consent and refusal data on our sites.
  • In accordance with current regulations, data may be forwarded to competent authorities upon request in the context of investigating offenses committed on the internet.
  • Your data may be collected by third parties (social media and video platforms) for their own purposes, in accordance with their privacy policies. Université Grenoble Alpes has no control over these third-party cookies.

4. How long do we keep your data?

Your data is retained for the period necessary to achieve the purposes set out in this policy, in accordance with applicable legislation:

• Data used to respond to your requests submitted via forms is retained for the time necessary to process your request and for a maximum period of one year.
• Connection and browsing data are legally retained for 36 months.
• The retention periods for Matomo cookies are indicated in the paragraph above, "Audience measurement cookies".  

5. How is your data protected?

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent unauthorized access, modification, disclosure, loss, or destruction of your data. To this end, Université Grenoble Alpes websites feature a secure "SSL" connection that encrypts and protects data during transmission over the internet. Furthermore, access to your personal data and its processing is restricted to authorized personnel only.

6. What are your rights regarding your data?

In accordance with applicable laws and regulations on personal data protection, you have a number of rights regarding your data depending on the legal basis of the processing to which they relate, namely:

• Right of access

• Right to erasure or right to be forgotten
